The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Finishing Foreperson to lead and manage the finishing phase (internal and external) of houses from start to completion on a large-scale residential development.
You will play a critical role in ensuring high standards, coordinating subcontractors and delivering on schedule and budget.
Key Responsibilities
Take individual houses through the full finishing process — internal and external — from rough trades to handover
Schedule, coordinate, and supervise subcontractors (e.g. plasterers, carpenters, painters, decorators, kitchen & bathroom fit-outs, tilers, external works)
Monitor quality control, ensure workmanship meets specification/standards
Inspect works at various stages and rectify defects or non-conformances
Liaise with the Site Manager, Project Engineer and other disciplines to ensure smooth workflow
Maintain and manage finishing works budgets, labour costs, and resource allocation
Ensure compliance with health & safety standards on site
Report progress, highlight risks or delays, and propose mitigation
Ensure timely inspections, snagging, and final handovers
Maintain records (daily reports, subcontractor performance, materials, etc.)
Requirements & Skills
Proven experience (minimum 5-7 years) as a Finishing Foreman / Finishing Supervisor on residential housing projects
Demonstrated ability to lead finishing trades from start to completion, including internal and external finishes
Strong knowledge of finishing trades: plastering, joinery, decoration, tiling, kitchens/bathrooms & external works
Excellent planning, organizational, and time-management skills
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and finishing specifications / drawings
Good understanding of health & safety legislation on building sites
Full driving licence
