Offer description

About Victim Support at CourtVictim Support at Court (V-SAC) is a registered charity who provides emotional and practical support for victims of all types of crime, their family and friends and prosecution witnesses when they attend court. V-SAC is the only voluntary service in Ireland that specialises in court accompaniment for victims of crime.V-SAC was legally incorporated in 2005. The Company is Limited by Guarantee (CLG) and governed by a Board of seven Directors (Trustees). V-SAC employs 6 full-time staff and one part-time staff member and has an annual turnover of circa €525,000. The principal funders are the Department of Justice, and we have also received a small amount of funding from charitable donations.Governance and oversightV-SAC's Board of Directors provide rigorous and appropriate oversight, accountability and governance transparency. The Board ensures that the organisation is delivering victim support services in line with agreed strategic plans, in accordance with the contractual arrangements of its funders, and above all, which are consistent with the best interests of victims of crime, their families and prosecution witnesses attending court across the State. The Board has developed robust financial control procedures, and a Risk & Audit Committee, on behalf of the Board, oversee the implementation of these procedures. This includes the contracting of external accountancy services to provide detailed monthly financial reports. This system results in very little audit adjustment from what we present beyond accrual adjustments, capitalisation of equipment and depreciation. The TaskThe Board of Directors wish to invite tenders from suitably qualified and competent accountants with a high level of knowledge and understanding of the voluntary and community sector and charity accounts, for the function of general book-keeping and management accountancy services over the next 12months, with a view to renewing the contract on an annual basis, subject to funding.
