Senior / Lead Electrical Engineer
A senior technical role responsible for leading all electrical design, development, and commissioning activities for automated machinery in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The position drives technical excellence, ensures compliance to electrical standards, and supports continuous improvement across site electrical systems.
Responsibilities
1. Lead and review the development, testing, and installation of electrical distribution and control systems in a highly automated, 24/7 validated production environment.
2. Provide technical guidance within project teams, including hardware and architecture selection for electrical and control systems.
3. Support complex fault-finding on automation equipment and control systems when required.
4. Maintain and manage documentation compliant with medical device regulatory standards.
5. Inspect vendor equipment for compliance with site electrical requirements and conduct commissioning assessments for new or modified installations.
6. Manage updates to electrical standards, procedures, vendor requirements, and new site electrical documentation.
7. Monitor and continuously improve the site electrical power-up plan and address any operational queries.
8. Maintain licensing systems and repositories for electrical drawing software.
9. Oversee and guide the site-wide electrical engineering function, ensuring high-quality technical support for manufacturing operations.
Requirements
10. Level 8 degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
11. Strong understanding of Irish and international electrical standards and directives.
12. Experience in design and commissioning of LV distribution, MCC systems, and 24V control/automation systems.
13. Proficiency with electrical drawing packages such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or Vault.
14. Cable design/sizing experience (manual calculations, Amtech, etc.).
15. Proven experience working with fully automated machinery and in senior/lead engineering roles.
16. Large-scale manufacturing experience is an advantage.
