Our client is a growing provider of specialist equipment hire to the construction industry, supporting projects across Ireland through a combination of operational excellence, technical expertise and customer‑focused service.
We're looking for an experienced Depot Operations Manager to take ownership of operations in Ireland and play a pivotal role in scaling the business. This is a hands‑on leadership position with responsibility for depot operations, fleet management, transport, customer service, safety, and operational performance.
You'll lead from the front, creating a high‑performing culture while ensuring the safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery of services. You’ll be responsible for:
Leading all day‑to‑day depot operations, ensuring exceptional service delivery and operational excellence
Managing and developing depot teams, creating a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement
Driving health, safety and compliance standards, embedding a safety‑first mindset across the operation
Improving key operational performance including service, fleet utilisation, stock accuracy and cost control
Overseeing transport planning, logistics performance and haulage efficiency
Managing fleet availability, asset utilisation, maintenance coordination and stock control
Supporting sales growth through reliable operational execution and outstanding customer service
Controlling operational budgets, identifying efficiencies and improving profitability
Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders
Supporting future operational expansion, including developing existing facilities and new locations
We’re looking for candidates with:
Proven experience in a Depot Manager, Operations Manager or similar leadership role (minimum 3 years experience)
Strong people management and team development capability
Experience operating in fast‑paced environments such as plant hire, construction, logistics, engineering or related sectors
Commercially minded with a track record of improving performance and controlling costs
Strong operational planning, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
Experience managing fleet, transport and asset utilisation
Ability to implement processes, drive compliance and deliver operational improvements
Health & Safety qualification (IOSH minimum)
Full driving licence
Experience within the plant hire, temporary works or groundworks sectors
Experience with hire management systems
Continuous improvement or operational transformation experience e.g. Lean
