Job Description
An exciting opportunity to join our team as a laboratory apprentice. The laboratory apprenticeship is a full-time program with IBEC, offering a 2-year Level 6 course (Higher Certificate in Science Laboratory Technician) with an option to continue and qualify as a Laboratory Analyst (Level 7 Bachelor of Science degree). The program combines industry training with academic study, involving both theoretical and practical elements. Tasks in the laboratory are aligned with the course requirements.
Responsibilities include:
* Perform analytical testing accurately and in accordance with established procedures and specifications, under the guidance of your Laboratory Team Lead/designee.
* Ensure compliance with GMP and EHS guidelines at all times.
* Support housekeeping activities and manage consumable stock.
* Perform routine instrument calibration and maintenance.
* Carry out environmental monitoring and water sampling activities.
* Plan and organize sample shipments, coordinating with supply chain and external laboratories.
* Adhere to data integrity (ALCOA) requirements.
* Identify discrepancies or non-conformances and support investigations.
* Assist in laboratory audit preparations as needed.
Educational Requirements/Skills:
* Minimum of Grade B3/O3 in PASS Maths and Grade D/O6 in four other subjects in the Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
* Or three years’ relevant industrial work experience (applicable for mature students over 23, subject to SOLAS approval).
* Achieve the required aptitude test scores.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
