Job Description
As a skilled metal fabricator, you will perform all fabrication and welding tasks, as well as finishing processes. This includes reading work orders and manufacturing standards, following production drawings and assembly instructions, or receiving verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
You will study engineered drawings and blueprints, determine the materials required, and plan the sequence of fabrication and welding tasks.
Key responsibilities include assembling and fitting steel sections to form complete units or subunits using tack welds and other fabrication methods.
Additionally, you will set up and operate heavy-duty metal working machines, including torches, drills, dye grinders, grinders, hammers, levels, plasma cutters, and overhead cranes.
Other key tasks include rigging, hoisting, and moving materials within the factory, understanding all quality requirements for products and jobs, meeting those requirements to specified standards, making adjustments to meet precise specifications, detecting and reporting defective material to supervisor, completing any special projects as required, ensuring accurate and timely completion of all production and quality documentation, and reporting any real or potential safety/health hazards, accidents or near misses to the Supervisor.
