Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this post is to:
· The CNM 2 will be part of the multi-disciplinary team that delivers care to the children referred to the Orthopaedic Service.
· The role of the CNM 2 is to provide support to Spina Bifida patients who will be having, lower limb surgeries and general orthopaedic surgery.
· Taking a leading role in the multi-disciplinary team that delivers care to the children referred to the service.
· The CNM2 will ensure their competence in the area of specialty practice providing up to date evidenced based care.
· Provision of a coordinated a service that optimises support and continuity of care for patients with spinal disorders.
· The CNM2 will provide OPD clinic support / consultation, telephone liaison to support patient and families.
· The CNM2 will liaise closely with the Orthopedic Consultants keeping them up to date with patient progress / concerns.
· Be a resource for colleagues, allied professionals and other health care professional including GP's and Public Health Nurses (PHN's).
Provide specialist nursing education including education and training for patients, families and multidisciplinary staff
Essential Criteria:
· Be a registered nurse on the active Children's or General Register of Nurses and Midwives held by An Bord Altranais and Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be eligible to be so registered.
· Must have a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience, 3 of which must be recent experience within Children's nursing.
· Must have experience of delivering quality improvement in a healthcare environment.
Have proven clinical and managerial ability and leadership skills
