Role Summary
The Senior Project Planner will be responsible for the development, control and reporting of integrated project programmes for large-scale mission-critical, pharmaceutical and industrial projects with a strong Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) focus. You will support project teams by providing robust schedule control, progress tracking, earned value analysis and schedule risk management across the full project lifecycle.
This role is critical to ensuring complex, multi-discipline projects are delivered on time, on budget and to regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Planner
Develop fully logic-linked Level 4 & 5 project schedules covering design, procurement, construction, commissioning & CQV / validation.
Establish baseline programmes and manage all changes via formal change control
Identify critical path, near-critical activities and mitigation strategies
M&E & Specialist Systems Planning
Lead planning for electrical systems (Small lighting & Power, Cabling, Containment, LV, MV, HV, BMS, Busbar, I&C etc.)
Develop commissioning, IST and validation programmes
Coordinate vendor schedules for equipment such as chillers, AHUs, switchgear, skids and plant
Progress, Reporting & Forecasting
Monitor site progress using physical progress, Earned Value Management and milestone tracking to keep project schedules accurate and up to date.
Produce weekly and monthly reports covering programme status, critical path, float usage, delay analysis, recovery plans and forecast completion dates while proactively identifying schedule risks.
Risk, Change & Delay Analysis
Perform schedule risk analysis and what-if scenarios.
Prepare Time Impact Analyses (TIA) for variations and claims.
Support commercial teams with delay, disruption and extension-of-time submissions.
Stakeholder & Team Coordination
Work closely with project managers, construction and M&E leads, commissioning teams, clients and consultants, and chair programme review meetings to drive alignment and maintain schedule control.
Necessary Requirements of the Senior Planner
6+ years planning experience on large-scale construction or engineering projects
Strong M&E background (either trade, engineering or project controls)
Experience delivering Data Centres, Pharmaceutical or Industrial facilities in-excess of €5M
Experience managing multi-package contracts, long-lead equipment, phased handovers, commissioning and CQV.
Expert user of Primavera P6 & MS Office
Familiar with Earned Value Management, Critical Path Method (CPM), Delay analysis techniques (TIA, windows analysis)
Ability to read and interpret M&E drawings, Schematics, Construction and commissioning methodologies
