Job Purpose To heat and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children attending the crche, while maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment in line with food safety regulations and the crches policies and procedures.
Key Duties & Responsibilities Assist with the preparation, cooking, heating and serving of meals and snacks in line with the crches menus and childrens dietary needs.
Ensure correct portion sizes appropriate for different age groups.
Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen, dining areas, and food storage areas at all times.
Wash and sterilise utensils, dishes, and equipment after use.
Monitor and record fridge/freezer temperatures and food deliveries as required.
Ensure proper storage, labelling, and rotation of food.
Adhere to all Health Service Executive (HSE) and Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) food hygiene and safety standards.
Assist with stock checks and notifying the Manager of low supplies.
Comply with all crche policies including health & safety, child safeguarding, and infection control.
Report any hazards, accidents, or maintenance issues promptly.
Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by management.
Person Specification Essential Criteria Experience working in a kitchen or catering environment.
Basic knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
Good organisational and teamwork skills.
Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
Flexibility and reliability.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Desirable Criteria Completion of a Food Hygiene / HACCP training course.
Experience working in an early year or childcare setting.
Knowledge of special diets and allergy management.
