Position Overview
As an Assistant Coach, the ideal candidate will support the Head Coach in developing a comprehensive and effective diving programme. This includes assisting with the preparation of monthly lesson plans for both dryland and pool for practice sessions and competitions, executing performance goals and plans for our divers, fostering athlete development, and encouraging diver participation.
Key Responsibilities
* Program Development and Implementation: Assist in developing and implementing individual performance goals for various age groups and skill levels; create and submit monthly lesson plans for pool and dryland training sessions.
* Optimise pool/dryland time to ensure the most effective use of facilities.
* Produce an annual competition/training camp programme that includes and develops all competitive club members.
* Coaching and Athlete Development: Monitor and evaluate diver progress, providing individualized feedback, guidance, and adjustment to training.
* Support the Head Coach in creating and reviewing a long‑term strategic plan for competitive diving, ensuring the plan is progressive and sustainable.
* Foster a positive and inclusive club and team environment that encourages personal growth, good sportsmanship, and a strong work ethic.
* Competition and Event Management: Plan and coordinate participation and selection of athletes and/or teams for competitions and training camps; support setting competition goals and targets to athletes, parents, and committee members.
* Assist in selecting athletes’ dive lists for competitions; attend diving competitions at all levels, providing on‑deck coaching and support to athletes; undertake judging duties as required by event organisers.
Qualifications And Skills
* Education and Certification: Swim Ireland Level 1 or Level 2 Coaching Certificate for Diving or recognised international equivalent.
* Valid Swim Ireland / Sport Ireland Safeguarding Level 1 Certificate; Certified Garda vetting with Swim Ireland credentials.
* Coaching experience to national level, senior or junior championship competitions.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and Swim Ireland’s safeguarding policy in relation to Diving and Dry Dive training.
* Strong understanding of diving techniques and training methods.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills; ability to motivate and inspire athletes.
