About the organisation
This organisation is a large global investment and financial services firm with a significant technology presence in Ireland. Their engineering teams build platforms used by portfolio analysts and investment managers responsible for hundreds of billions in assets. Technology plays a central role in how investment strategies are constructed, implemented, and managed, with a strong focus on modern engineering practices and scalable systems.
Responsibilities
Design and build full-stack applications supporting portfolio construction and investment management workflows using Java, SpringBoot and Angular.
Develop microservices and APIs that power portfolio implementation tools used by analysts managing large-scale retirement and savings portfolios.
Lead technical design decisions within the engineering squad, setting standards for testing, CI/CD, automation and code quality.
Collaborate with architects, product owners and engineers to evolve a platform that handles complex financial data and portfolio calculations.
Qualifications
10+ years' of experience
Strong full-stack development experience with Java, SpringBoot, Angular and REST APIs, ideally across large distributed systems.
Deep experience designing and delivering microservices architectures and scalable backend systems.
A solid grounding in testing practices, CI/CD, DevOps principles and modern engineering standards.
Experience with Oracle SQL/PLSQL and cloud technologies such as AWS or Kubernetes (or strong exposure to comparable platforms).
The practical bits
Salary is €80,000–€90,000 plus a 20% bonus.
There is also a non-contributory pension ranging from 11% to 20% depending on age.
The role is Galway-based with a hybrid model of one week in the office every four weeks. The rest of the time can be worked remotely.
