Job Title: Assistant Professor of Communication
Marian University's Ancilla College seeks a qualified applicant for a Full-Time Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Communication position. The role promotes Marian University's Catholic mission and contributes to student development and departmental programs within the Department of Communication.
This position reports to the Dean of Academics at the Plymouth, IN location for daily operations and to the Department Chair at Marian University - Indianapolis for curricular and disciplinary matters.
Marian University is a Catholic, comprehensive, regional institution dedicated to excellent teaching in the Franciscan and liberal arts traditions, offering undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. The university has experienced significant growth and is expanding its academic offerings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Engage actively with the Catholic Franciscan mission, modeling values such as transformative education, diversity, leadership through service, and faith integration.
2. Teach a load of 24 credits per academic year.
3. Contribute to department and college activities and projects.
4. Participate in curriculum development and departmental activities.
5. Engage in scholarship and professional development.
6. Mentor students through advising, internships, and service-learning.
7. Participate in campus and university service, including governance and co-curricular programs.
8. Support university events, activities, clubs, and organizations.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
1. Commitment to Marian University's mission.
2. Master's degree in communication, media, or a related field; a doctorate is strongly preferred.
3. Experience working with students of varying abilities.
4. Proven effective teaching in higher education.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Self-motivated, collaborative, and independent work skills.
7. Commitment to multicultural competence, diversity, and community engagement.
8. Ability to train, collaborate, and lead within the communication program.
9. Experience with online education is highly desirable.
