The client is seeking a Senior / Lead Software Engineer to join an internal product engineering consultancy focused on building greenfield platforms and incubating new business capabilities. The team partners with internal business units to design, build, and scale complex, data-driven products from the ground up.This role will support a Federal Medicare-aligned analytics platform delivering large-scale BI dashboards and custom data visualisations for the pharmaceutical industry. The platform processes billions of data records to analyse medical and pharmaceutical drug pricing across demographics, enabling data-driven insights through highly automated, cloud-native systems.
Your new role
* Design, develop, and support highly scalable platforms handling billions of data records
* Build backend services using Java and Spring Boot, providing technical guidance to junior engineers
* Implement and optimise large-scale data processing using Databricks, Snowflake, and enterprise data platforms
* Deliver BI dashboards and custom visualisation widgets for pharmaceutical analytics use cases
* Drive automation-first engineering, including reusable services, boilerplates, and platform accelerators
* Introduce and scale AI-assisted development and data tooling to improve engineering productivity and delivery speed
* Collaborate closely with UI, Cloud, Automation, and Data Engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
* Own technical design decisions and ensure platform quality, performance, and reliability
* Actively collaborate across teams to reuse patterns and solve complex technical challenges
* Participate in agile ceremonies and sprint planning within a fast-paced delivery environment
What you'll need to succeed
Software Engineering
* Strong software engineering background with deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot
* Experience building and supporting high-volume, data-intensive systems
* Proven experience mentoring engineers and operating in a technical lead capacity
Data & Analytics
* Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies such as Databricks and/or Snowflake
* Experience working with enterprise DataMarts and large-scale analytics pipelines
* Exposure to Azure Synapse is a plus
* Awareness or experience with DVT is desirable
AI & Automation
* Hands-on experience using AI tooling in software engineering or data platforms
* Demonstrated experience introducing AI to improve developer productivity or platform capabilities
* Experience applying AI in data platforms, React-based applications, widgets, REST services, or boilerplate frameworks
Cloud & Infrastructure
* Strong experience in the Azure cloud ecosystem
* Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, and distributed systems
* Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is mandatory
* Background must be software engineering-led (not a DevOps-only profile)
Frontend (Nice to Have)
* Working knowledge of UI development and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React)
Leadership & Collaboration
* Prior experience leading technical initiatives or acting as a tech lead (no people management responsibility)
* Comfortable being accountable for technical delivery and engineering quality
* Strong collaborator who actively shares knowledge and learns from peer engineering teams
* Experience working in agile environments with structured sprint planning and execution
Team Environment
* Cross-functional teams comprising UI, Cloud, Automation, and Data Engineers
* Collaborative peer group of senior technical leaders for shared problem-solving
