Job Opportunity: Mechanical Fitter
An exciting opportunity exists for a highly skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our busy manufacturing facility in Athlone, Co. Westmeath.
This full-time, permanent role involves maintaining, repairing and optimising mechanical equipment to support smooth and efficient production operations while ensuring all safety and compliance standards are met.
Job Responsibilities:
* Carry out planned, preventive and reactive maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
* Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement timely repairs to minimise downtime.
* Complete risk assessments and method statements for all maintenance activities.
* Keep accurate maintenance records and update the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
* Support production teams with technical expertise and practical problem-solving.
* Assist with performance reporting and recommend efficiency improvements.
* Collaborate with contractors and ensure all work is completed safely and to schedule.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
* Adhere to all Health, Safety and Environmental protocols.
* Contribute to team-based maintenance projects as required.
Job Requirements:
* Fully qualified Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitter (essential).
* Minimum 2 years' hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and maintenance best practices.
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings and maintenance documentation.
* Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and maintenance software systems.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
* Adaptable and flexible approach to handling additional responsibilities.
* Positive, proactive attitude and ability to work independently when needed.
