Purpose of the Post
The CPC/CF will guide and support undergraduate nursing students and staff in assigned clinical areas to ensure that the clinical placement meets the requirements of the education programme with regard to planned experiences and learning outcomes.
Responsibilities
* The remit includes: provision of support to students, preceptors and nursing staff in all learning environments within Naas General Hospital.
* Support to the Nurse Practice Development Co-ordinator in practice development activities.
* Support to the Director of Nursing as required.
* Provide a quality educational and supportive service to nursing students and staff on undergraduate nursing training programmes and postgraduate programmes.
* Provide education and training at induction, adaptation, development programmes and ongoing in-service days delivered through formal and informal interaction and support for Registered Nurses of all grades/roles and non-nursing staff within the hospital daily.
* Coordinate and manage up-to-date educational/clinical programmes for relevant staff.
Eligibility Criteria
(i) Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.
(ii) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
(iii) Be a registered nurse/midwife on the active Register of Nurses or Midwives held by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or be eligible to register.
AND (iv) Be registered in a Division of the register in which the application is being made.
OR In exceptional circumstances, be registered in another Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives (assessed case by case).
AND (v) Have completed post-registration programme of study verified by QQI NFQ level 8 (60 ECTS) or higher relevant to education or health-related subject; or provide written evidence from higher education institute achieving 60 ECTS credits equivalent to level 8.
AND (vi) Have a minimum of 5 years post-registration full-time experience or 5 years in the division, with 2 years in a practice learning environment.
AND (vii) Have completed a Teaching and Assessing or Preceptorship in Practice course/programme or module.
AND (viii) Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to discharge the functions of the role.
AND (ix) Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.
AND (x) Ability to practice safely and effectively within scope of practice.
AND (xi) Possess the knowledge and ability including high standard of suitability to discharge the functions of the role.
* Annual Registration: Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the relevant division of the NMBI register and confirm annual registration with NMBI to the HSE via the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
Health and Character: A candidate must be fully competent and in good health to undertake duties and render regular service; candidate must be of good character.
