The city council of Puteaux is looking for language assistants to take part in their programme.
This role is in-person in primary schools in Puteaux, next to Paris.
Working 12h per week, the language assistants use their native speaker skills and knowledge of their culture to schools. The assistant's role is to improve pupils' communication skills (in particular oral skills) and develop their knowledge of a different society and culture. They support the work of the language department in the school they are placed in, under the supervision of the modern languages teachers. They may do this in whole class situations in the teacher's presence, or they may lead activities independently with small groups of pupils.
Main duties
You may carry out the following duties in your school :
conversation practice with pupils alongside the teacher
participate in various educational activities held in the school
contribute to authentic voice recordings to enrich the school's audiovisual resources
individual pupil support
participate in the implementation of exchange programmes
lead a language club
educational support
intensive language courses.
Assistants may also get involved in other areas of school life depending on the requirements of their school.

Working hours
You will work for 12 hours per week. These hours may be worked solely in one school or in up to a maximum of 3 schools.
School holidays
You will have the same holidays as your pupils and French colleagues, i.e.: a week around the Toussaint public holiday (1st November), two weeks at Christmas, two weeks in winter and two weeks in spring (see academic calendars for school holidays (link is external)).
School timetables
The school week : Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Friday. Pupils have 24 hours of lessons per week.
Normally, each lesson lasts 45 minutes in école élémentaire.
Each day begins at 8.30 a.m. and ends at 4.30 p.m.
Monthly allowance
€820 net.
Accommodation
Exceptionally, the assistants are housed free of charge. They pay only the expenses of the accommodation (45 € per month). A deposit of 200 € is required at the entrance to the apartment and replaced at the end of the contract.
