Job Title: Safety Operations Manager
This role is based in Cork and requires a highly skilled professional to oversee the health, safety, and environmental aspects of construction contractor operations on-site.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in managing all HSE aspects of contractor operations, including assessing and evaluating prequalification and requalification questionnaires, along with supporting HSE documentation.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage the Contractor Management Portal system and provide guidance to contractors and clients on its requirements.
2. Collaborate with clients to review and approve task-specific method statements and risk assessments.
3. Determine the scope of work for each contractor and establish appropriate training requirements for HSE induction.
4. Confirm that contractors are HSE qualified to work on-site and that individual contractors have current SOLAS Safe Pass cards and other relevant training.
5. Ensure that individual contractors successfully complete general HSE induction knowledge checks before accessing the site.
6. Review and approve permits to work and risk assessment documents for external contractors carrying out on-site work.
7. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly safety audits of permit to work, lockout/tagout, hot work, confined space entry, and general contractor documentation and work practices.
8. Actively manage the contractor Safety Observation Report programme and participate in the site safety observation programme.
9. Lead and participate in event investigations and follow up as required.
10. Participate in and facilitate contractor HSE meetings as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field.
* Extensive experience in HSE management fulfilling roles in PSDP & PSCS.
* Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
* Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
* Proficiency in using HSE management systems and software.
