Smurfit Westrock Cork is part of the Smurfit Westrock Group, one of the leading providers of paper-based packaging solutions in the world and we are currently recruiting to fill the vacant role of Health & Safety, Quality Assistant.
Reporting to the QESHT Manager, The QSH Assistant role will provide support to all areas of the business and take ownership for projects whilst ensuring that the Company meets legislative and contractual requirements.
The QSH Assistant will own and look to improve on our ISO 19001 and accreditations, by driving site excellence through the managers to successfully identify and drive improvements in these areas across the business.
Responsibilities of the QSH Assistant:
Health & Safety
* Undertake responsibility for Plan, control and record of H&S regulatory inspections.
* Gap Analysis and implement site Health and Safety training, providing accurate and timely information regarding training requirements, validity of licenses and certificates.
* Undertake responsibility for ensuring H&S regulatory and site inspections are carried out and recorded accurately.
* Main driver for LOTOTO implementation and sustainability in the plant.
* Regularly review and update safety information including COSHH assessments.
* Assist QESHT Manager with reporting, recording and investigating accidents, incidents and near-misses.
* Provide assistance with the completion and updating of Risk Assessments, Safe System of Work, Toolbox Talks, Group Safety Audit Standard.
* Supporting the Plant Management Team to ensure all H&S and Quality standards are delivered to customer expectations to include SMETA.
* Prepare and collate Waste Transfer Notes and report in a timely manner.
* Attend, contribute, document and action minutes from safety meetings in a timely manner.
* Review and action Safety Incident Bulletins and provide feedback.
* Attend Safety Forums in person and via Teams.
* Drive Health and Safety improvement across the site.
* Ensure contractor management and permits are adhered to.
Quality
* Ensuring that monitoring equipment is calibrated and certificates filed.
* Produce and review QSH data and analysis instigating change and recording as appropriate.
* Instigate and implement reviews and reporting for all internal procedures, documents and audit requirements.
* Instigate and develop Quality procedures and implement and manage document control measures.
* Preparing and submitting Pre-qualification questionnaires and supporting documentation
* Complete quality audits and actioning any issues arising in timely manner.
* Improvement and maintenance of the management systems ISO 9001, ISO14001, BRC, FSC.
* Continuous Quality Procedure Development and sustain a continuous improvement culture.
* Gap Analysis and implement site Quality training, providing accurate and timely information regarding training requirements.
Attributes and Skills Required
* Have experience in Quality, Health and Safety and can maintain management systems ISO 9001 and 14001
* Diploma in H&S, NEBOSH or other safety related qualification an advantage, or equivlant experience
* Numerate, literate and be proficient in MS Office.
* Some relevant experience of working in a busy manufacturing environment, with experience of meeting deadlines is preferable but not required
* Good organisational skills, high levels of attention to detail and excellent record keeping abilities.
* Having an enthusiastic approach to goals and personal KPI's
* Knowledge of ISO45001 an advantage
* Use of various platforms such as Sypol, Intelex, Arco, Training portal a clear advantage
