ECOLOGIST Veon is looking to recruit an experienced Ecologist to join our growing team throughout Ireland.
As a company providing ecology services to a wide range of sectors, the successful candidate must demonstrate a deep knowledge and understanding of Irish ecology while providing practical solutions for our clients.
Veon offers a wide variety of services across both the ecology, forestry and arboriculture sectors all of which will provide a breadth of experience in this field.
Reporting to the Head of Ecology, the successful candidate will have at least 3 years experience in a similar role.
We can offer flexibility in relation to the location of the role, and the successful candidate can be based at our Head Office in Dublin or in our Kilkenny, Longford, Limerick, Roscommon or Galway regional offices.
Responsibilities of Ecologist Role: Compile technically robust ecology reports for our clients.
These will include, but not limited to, Pre-screening reports, Appropriate Assessment reports and Natura Impact Statements and Ecological Impact Assessments.
Conduct fieldwork and be involved in data collection.
Actively engage in continuous professional development.
Provide advice and guidance to the wider Veon team on ecological issues as they arise.
Keep up to date with relevant legislation and guidance to ensure company compliance and interpret this for colleagues and the Management Team.
Managing small and large scale projects efficiently and meeting client deadlines.
Manage time and project delivery in an organised and proactive manner to ensure smooth delivery of reports and projects Manage time and project delivery in an organised and proactive manner to ensure smooth delivery of reports and projects.
Work as a team member and share knowledge, expertise and learning with colleagues.
Collate and store ecological data and reports while maintaining these records in a manner that is easily and readily accessible by colleagues as required.
Work as a team on the completion of tenders.
Engage with company systems e.g.
CRM, MS teams etc.
Requirements of Ecologist Role: The successful candidate should have the following skills: Relevant degree in Ecology or related discipline is essential.
Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role preferably consultancy.
Membership of relevant professional institute is desirable.
Proven experience undertaking report writing.
Experience undertaking field surveys and managing field data and a good knowledge of species identification and habitat classification Excellent computer skills, particularly MS Office.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders and negotiate practical solutions.
Ability to manage projects to tight deadlines including good organisational skills, attention to detail and time management skills.
Experience in completing Biodiversity Net Gain assessments, ECo W and conducting bat surveys is desirable but not essential.
Full driving licence is essential.
Willingness to travel throughout Ireland.
Capable of working competently both alone and as part of the team when required.
