Tipperary County Council is the authority responsible for local government in County Tipperary. The corporate headquarters are located at Civic Offices, Emmet Street, Clonmel, and Limerick Road, Nenagh. The council comprises five municipal districts: Borough District of Clonmel, Municipal District of Tipperary, Cahir, Cashel, Municipal District Thurles, Municipal District of Nenagh, and Municipal District of Carrick on Suir. Tipperary County Council has 40 elected members and approximately 1200 staff.
An opportunity now exists for the position of Senior Engineer.
Reporting to a Director of Service, the Senior Engineer is responsible for the efficient management, direction, and development of their assigned directorates/departments. This is a senior management role, requiring leadership within defined parameters aligned with Tipperary County Council's vision and objectives as outlined in its Corporate Plan. Delivering efficient services and value for money is essential.
The Senior Engineer will work closely with the Senior Management Team, the Cathaoirleach, and Elected Members to deliver services, implement local policies, and achieve strategic objectives in accordance with the council's policies. Recognizing local government as the main vehicle of governance and public service, the role involves leading economic, social, and community development, providing efficient and cost-effective services, and representing citizens and communities effectively and transparently.
This managerial position involves leading and managing a multidisciplinary team, implementing policies, delivering services, and managing change in a dynamic environment. The role offers opportunities to demonstrate leadership, innovation, agility, and a commitment to customer service.
