A leading global technology organisation is seeking a
Mechanical Design Engineer
(junior to mid-level) to join their expanding infrastructure design team. This position supports large-scale data centre development projects across the EMEA region and offers the opportunity to work alongside highly experienced engineers in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Role Overview
You will support mechanical and HVAC design activities for new-build data centre projects across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Working closely with senior engineers, consultants, and cross-functional internal teams, you will play a key role in equipment specification, design reviews, troubleshooting, and supporting construction phases.
This role suits someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, working on multi-million-euro design programmes, and contributing to high-impact global infrastructure.
What You'll Be Doing
* Support HVAC and mechanical design activities for new-build critical infrastructure.
* Work across multiple concurrent projects in different EMEA regions.
* Review and approve equipment submittals.
* Manage external design consultancy partners and review design packages.
* Collaborate with internal teams to gather requirements and support project delivery.
* Assist in troubleshooting mechanical/design issues, including RCA and corrective actions.
* Define project scopes and support mechanical works during construction phases.
* Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify mechanical equipment.
* Travel to sites for design evaluations, audits, and launches as required.
* Participate in knowledge-sharing within the engineering team.
* Bring a positive, solution-focused, and creative approach to problem-solving.
Basic Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
* 5+ years' experience in HVAC, building services, electronics cooling, or similar industries.
* Strong ability to research new technologies and design approaches.
* Experience taking mechanical design concepts from development through to implementation.
* Ability to build solid business-case justifications for technical decisions.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Chartered Engineer status and/or a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* Experience with data centre, mission-critical, pharmaceutical, hospital, or semiconductor facility design.
* Knowledge of BIM and CFD modelling.
* Experience managing and negotiating with design and construction consultants.
* Background in fast-track design/build or large-scale upgrade programmes.
* Familiarity with large-scale technical infrastructure and relevant building codes.

Expect a mix of hands-on design work, technical problem-solving, equipment assessment, and project coordination. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, influence design decisions for major infrastructure projects, and help drive innovative mechanical solutions across a global footprint.
