Job Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to develop in a role that will be expected to perform all tasks associated with developing and implementing health & safety procedures, management systems to exceed legal and corporate compliance requirements.
The successful candidate will assist in the development, management, and delivery of safety-related training to all levels of staff on various areas including procedural requirements, incident investigation, risk assessment, and safety inspection/audit.
The H&S Officer will play a key role in promoting and maintaining a health & safety culture within the organization and will be exposed to a wide variety of multiple site activities and challenges associated with the logistical aspects of a leading food catering industry supplier.
We are looking for someone who has a demonstrable understanding of our business and relevant training will be provided on all related aspects of the H&S management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assists in the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with current and future relevant legislation and industry best practice.
* Ensures effective risk assessment and risk reduction programs are in place across sites.
* Conducts regular internal H&S inspections and audits to monitor effectiveness of controls and highlight any areas for improvement/action.
* Facilitates external audits and inspections where required.
* Manages departmental programs, tasks, objectives, and goals to achieve targets.
* Monitors H&S performance via metrics to ensure decisive action is taken when required.
* Identify, organize, and deliver training to management and personnel when required.
* Ensuring a robust H&S incident investigation process is in place.
* Leads investigations where necessary.
Requirements:
* Graduate Diploma (Level 8) in Occupational Safety, Health and Welfare
* 3+ years' experience in a Health and Safety focused environment
* Knowledge of ISO standards, particularly ISO Training, Delivery & Evaluation (QQI 6) or Instructor training advantageous
* Experience of working within a FMCG business
* Computer literate with excellent knowledge of full range of MS Office packages
* Attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills essential
* Must be able to work on own initiative in a very busy environment
* Will be able to demonstrate an ability to create concise reports, procedure, and policy
* Full clean driving licence with own car
* Flexibility with shift rotation and travel required
