Pay: up to €38,000.00 per year depending on experienceJob Description:Job Overview:The Duty Manager is a hands-on, service-focused, customer-facing role ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, hospitality, retail and tourism experience, and a passion for delivering high quality visitor experience.The Duty Manager will be proactive and highly organised with responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day functioning of the organisation: hospitality, retail, tourism. These departments will be onboarded one at a time.The role draws on key principles from the hospitality sector, including attention to detail, warm visitor interaction, and smooth coordination of people, spaces, and services.The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, is an effective problem-solver, and takes initiative to improve systems and processes.Key Responsibilities:Daily Operational Management· Oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the Visitor Centre, including Tea Room and Pantry, Retail, and Exhibition areas.· Ensure all operations run efficiently, safely, and in line with company policies.· Ensure that all spaces are clean, well-stocked, and welcoming at all times.· Monitor footfall, prepare for group visits, and adapt operations in response to busy periods.· Handle issues calmly and professionally as they arise, with a solution-focused approach.· Oversee systems, including the opening and closing procedures ensuring proper procedures are followed for end-of-day cashing up and data entry.Staff Supervision and Team Leadership· Supervise and support frontline and operational staff during daily shifts, with the ability to work hands-on in any role necessary to support operations.· Manage schedules, rotas, and staffing levels in line with financial targets, and CSP obligations.· Apply best practices from the hospitality sector to maintain high service standards across all departments.· Deliver in-house training and mentoring to new staff to ensure consistency in quality and approach.· Foster a positive and proactive team culture with a strong focus on customer experience.· Maintain HR records, supporting recruitment and onboarding processes, and ensure policies are up to date.· Oversee staff performance targets, conduct appraisals and reviews via the BrightHR online platform.Visitor Experience and Customer Service· Act as a key contact for guests on-site, ensuring warm welcomes, smooth flow, and positive engagement.· Act as first point of contact for customer service escalations, resolving customer queries or complaints in a professional and friendly manner.· Monitor visitor satisfaction and actively identify opportunities to enhance the overall experience.· Help implement initiatives that align with hospitality best practices: e.g. upselling, product knowledge, efficient service, and presentation are maintained.· Ensure visual appeal across all public spaces via visual merchandising, tidiness and cleanliness.Health, Safety and Facilities Oversight· Maintain health and safety compliance across all operations, conducting risk assessments, and responding to and record keeping incidents or emergencies via the BrightSafe platform.· Ensure compliance with all health, safety, hygiene, and accessibility regulations.· Conduct regular checks on fire safety, sanitation, and equipment maintenance.· Report and resolve any issues with facilities or utilities promptly, liaising with contractors if needed.· Maintain hospitality-level cleanliness and presentation across all public spaces.EPOS Oversight· Support stock control, deliveries, and inventory checks as needed.· Manage EPOS systems, updating product and pricing information in the EPOS backend to ensure accurate data, reporting, costs etc. for analysis.· Generate and analyse reports on ticket sales, retail, café, or other income streams from the EPOS system, reporting weekly to the Business Manager to identify issues, and offer strategies for improvements.· Ensure effective cost control and value for money across services and suppliers.· Liaise with the Office Administrator and front-of-house team to troubleshoot till discrepancies or technical issues.Collaboration and Communication· Work closely with the Business Manager to ensure consistency in implementing site policies & strategic improvements.· Communicate clearly and consistently with staff and management to anticipate needs and improve workflows.· Assist with the delivery of events, marketing activities, or social media content as required.· Prepare weekly operational reports for Business Manager and updates for monthly board meetings.· Represent the Centre and its values to visitors, tour operators, suppliers, and local stakeholders.Essential Skills and Experience· Previous experience in a supervisory or duty management role (2+ years in a hospitality setting preferred)· Adaptability to work across all roles and departments in the Centre as needs require.· Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.· Competent in shift management, rota planning, and reporting.· Digital competency, including online rota systems, and EPOS system oversight· Ability to stay calm under pressure and make quick decisions.· Flexible availability, including weekends as needed, daytime hours only.Job Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)Additional pay:Performance
