The role
The Centre of Food Culture Ireland is seeking to add to it's board of directors, by recruiting a voluntary board member with expertise in the area of fundraising.
The Centre of Food Culture Ireland is a social enterprise with a vision to support a vibrant, creative, sustainable, regenerative and interconnected food culture for all. Our mission is to create the first national centre for food and drink culture, originated in the Boyne Valley region, to facilitate education, discussion, enterprise and advocacy by connecting people to their food, soil and sea.
As a Board Member, you will provide strategic direction, oversight, and governance to the executive team to ensure the Centre of Food Culture Ireland fulfils the vision and mission set out by the founding members of the organisation in a sustainable and impactful way. Board members champion the organisation’s values, contribute their expertise, and serve as ambassadors.
Key Responsibilities
Provide efficient and effective leadership for the Centre of Food Culture Ireland
Uphold good governance practices, ensure legal and regulatory compliance, and monitor risk.
Review, approve and oversee the implementation of new policies and procedures and ensure they remain in line with the vision for the organisation
Review, approve and monitor the strategic and annual operational plans for the organisation on an ongoing basis, ensuring they remain in line with the vision for the Centre of Food Culture Ireland
Review financial performance, support resource development, approve budgets and key financial decisions, and approve the financial statements for each year
Monitor and review the performance of the executive team for the Centre of Food Culture Ireland
Oversee the implementation of new policies and procedures and ensure they remain in line with the vision for the organisation
Act as an advocate for the Centre of Food Culture Ireland, to support its development
Safeguard the initial vision established by the founding board of directors, whilst shaping a sustainable future direction for the organisation
Hold and contribute to operational and board meetings, and hold an AGM each year
Time Commitment
Approximately four hours per month, made up of the below standing meetings. The estimated four-hour monthly time commitment factors in time to read and engage with meeting reports and minutes, and ad hoc engagement with other board members/the executive team
Monthly one-hour operational meetings (online)
Quarterly two-hour board meetings
Any participation in annual or project specific committees involves additional time commitment
