Job Overview
Location: Fermoy, Co. Cork, with travel to all Talbot Group locations across County Cork.
Salary: €17.00 per hour. Contract: Full‑time Permanent. Working hours: 8.00 to 17.00 Monday – Friday. Reporting Relationship: Transport Manager & Regional Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with teams across all Cork locations to ensure transport needs are met efficiently.
Develop a good working relationship with all service providers in the Cork area to ensure prompt vehicle servicing and upkeep of fleet and ability to source extra service providers if required.
Plan routes and timetables for each centre to ensure efficient running costs.
Safely transport residents/service users between their homes, Talbot Group services, healthcare appointments, community activities and other required destinations.
Assist residents/service users with embarking and disembarking vehicles while ensuring their safety, dignity and comfort.
Carry out daily pre‑journey vehicle safety checks.
Maintain vehicle cleanliness, hygiene and roadworthiness standards in accordance with company policy.
Report vehicle defects, incidents or accidents promptly and appropriately.
Follow all road traffic legislation, transport policies, safeguarding procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
Maintain accurate journey logs, mileage records and transport documentation.
Support service delivery by transporting equipment, supplies or staff as required.
Promote a positive, caring and person‑centred experience for residents during all journeys.
Participate in relevant training including Manual Handling, First Aid, Safeguarding and any transport‑related training required.
Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures.
Essential Criteria
Full clean Irish driving licence (category B).
Experience driving professionally, ideally within healthcare, disability, education or community services.
Good local knowledge of Cork area.
Good understanding of road safety legislation and vehicle safety procedures.
Ability to maintain accurate records and transport logs.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Reliable, flexible and professional.
Patient, caring and respectful towards residents and service users.
Strong commitment to person‑centred care and safety.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Previous experience supporting people with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism or Acquired Brain Injuries.
Experience working in healthcare, rehabilitation or social care settings.
Manual Handling and/or First Aid certification.
Experience driving minibuses or adapted vehicles.
