Overview
Infrastructure Design Services is a team of Technology Architects and Engineers responsible for the analysis and design of the infrastructure framework to fit the application, platform or system needs in line with Mastercard's operational standards and principles. The team is engaged from the beginning of the analysis and design phase to work with application teams and other critical teams within Mastercard to ensure that the completed infrastructure and application architecture aligns with Mastercard’s security, scalability and availability standards.
The primary deliverable is the Technical Architecture Document (TAD), which details the infrastructure design for the application, platform or system.
This role requires experience in internet fundamentals related to web servers, application servers, internet security and other internet technologies. The role actively designs and delivers internet infrastructure solutions that satisfy member, product, service and backbone requirements.
Role Responsibilities
* Generating high‑level requirements in collaboration with architects, engineers, application teams, and users.
* Producing deliverables such as TADs, technical documents, logical flows, and models to keep stakeholders aligned.
* Maintaining all architectural products in the most current state and preventing obsolescence.
* Resolving internet architectural and operational problems impacting global infrastructure and product availability and performance.
* Researching and evaluating new technology for potential deployment in Mastercard’s internet infrastructure.
* Assuming lead and overall accountability for ongoing regional projects, including planning, time and cost control, resource utilization and implementation.
* Implementing, managing and supporting internet infrastructure components while leveraging current standards and best practices.
* Diagnosing problems, tuning performance, capacity planning and configuration management for MasterCard internet components.
* Ensuring system stability and future compatibility by monitoring production execution of all relevant systems.

* Thorough knowledge of network, operating system principles and web middleware.
* Experience in internet infrastructure design and/or web administration.
* Advanced knowledge of load balancers and web application firewalls.
* Working knowledge of database technologies.
* Working knowledge of cloud technologies.
* Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture principles and network micro‑segmentation.
* Experience with YAML‑based deployments.
* High‑energy, proactive, detail‑oriented, able to function under pressure in an independent environment.
* Strong initiative, self‑motivation and ability to drive results.
* Excellent verbal and written communication, relationship building and collaboration skills; able to work with a matrixed, geographically distributed team.
* Willingness and ability to learn and tackle challenging opportunities.
