Responsibilities
The Senior Cardiovascular Sonographer performs diagnostic cardiac and vascular examinations using various equipment and techniques to evaluate and record anatomical, pathological, and functional data of the cardiovascular system. Recognized as a clinical expert in Cardiac and Vascular Sonography, they perform high-skill ultrasound exams, participate in lab accreditation, and contribute to quality improvement and assurance processes.
* Perform high-skill level ultrasound exams in Cardiac and Vascular Sonography, including but not limited to mesenteric and renal arteries duplex exams, echocardiograms for Mitral Valve Clip and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacements, Stress Echocardiograms, LV/RV 3D Volumes, and LV/RV Strain Analysis.
* Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor for other sonographers, acting as a professional and technical role model.
* Assist in teaching students, residents, fellows, and new employees.
* Manage workflow, scheduling, and rescheduling of exams as needed.
* Support equipment maintenance, including preventative maintenance and repairs, when delegated or in the absence of management.
* Understand clinical indications and procedures thoroughly.
* Independently perform all cardiovascular diagnostic examinations within ARDMS scope of practice.
* Complete findings for each exam, ensuring all necessary information meets IAC standards and lab protocols.
* Create recordings of findings for analysis and interpretation based on patient disease states.
* Detect malfunctions and disease states during exams, adjusting techniques to optimize image quality.
* Use professional judgment within ARDMS scope to adapt procedures for optimal results.
* Translate exam data into written reports for physician interpretation.
* Consult with physicians regarding preliminary findings, especially urgent cases.
* Ensure timely scheduling of urgent or additional exams.
* Educate patients and/or families about the procedures.
* Maintain and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
* Stay informed about new products and equipment through conferences and journals.
* Travel to satellite locations and clinics may be required.
* Utilize job-related software and systems effectively.
* Maintain professionalism, punctuality, attention to detail, and positive relationships with colleagues and patients.
* Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
* Graduate of an accredited (CAAHEP) ultrasound program (Associate or Bachelor) or equivalent education and experience.
* Current RDCS, RVT, and BCLS certification or equivalent CCI credentials.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience as a vascular sonographer.
* Experience in Cardiac and Vascular ultrasound, with knowledge of ultrasound equipment and physiological monitoring.
* Ability to perform high-skill level exams consistently.
* Commitment to professional growth and continuous learning, demonstrated by participation in conferences.
Pay Range
USD $35.94 - USD $53.89 per hour.
