Electrical & Automation Basic Design – Powering the Future of Ship Systems
Our Electrical & Automation Basic Design department is responsible for the comprehensive design of electrical and control systems for ships. This includes power generation, automation, navigation, safety, and IT systems. We ensure that the ship’s electrical architecture and components are fully aligned with technical specifications, classification requirements, and client expectations.
We define and integrate key onboard systems such as propulsion power, generators, transformers, distribution boards, battery systems, and automation cabinets. This ensures efficient power distribution, safe operation, and seamless control across all ship systems.
The approved documentation supports procurement, reserves necessary installation space, and serves as the foundation for detailed design and integration.
The discipline includes several key focus areas:
Power generation and distribution
Propulsion and energy storage systems
Automation systems
Navigation, communication, and safety systems
IT networks and safety systems
Cable tray design and routing
Typical tasks and deliverables:
Electrical and automation specifications
Load analysis and network calculations
Cable diagrams and equipment layouts
Main cable tray design and cable routing
Lighting design and simulations (Dialux)
Work is mainly produced in 2D using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Cadmatic Electrical).
We are looking for team players with:
Experience in ship electrical and automation design
Strong CAD skills (e.g., AutoCAD, Cadmatic Electrical)
Familiarity with classification society requirements
Systematic working style and good communication skills
Join us to shape the electrical soul of high‑performing, sustainable vessels through expert design and integration.
