* To promote through high standards of work, a clean and tidy environment including a laundry system which is conducive to the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of the residents.
* To promote the ethos of person-centred care.
* To ensure that everything we do reflects the privacy, dignity, independence, and respect of our residents and underpins all the basic values that contribute to an excellent quality of life.
* To ensure that all residents receive enjoy a high level of domestic cleanliness and to ensure that all residents clothing is cared for to a high standard appropriate to their individual needs.
* To advocate for our residents.

About The Role
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;
RESIDENTS;
* To ensure that the private and common spaces of the home are always clean and tidy and to provide the laundry requirements for each resident as per their individual needs.
* To adhere to all company policies in the best interest of residents and staff.
* To attend all compulsory training. as organised by Castlebridge Manor Nursing Home.
* To assist the nursing staff in their role ensuring to agree to do only those tasks that you are competent and confident in carrying out.
* To report all observed changes in the condition or mental state of all residents to the nurse on duty.
* To ensure that a 'home-like' environment and atmosphere is maintained where the resident is seen as the central figure in all decision making, ensuring that their right to individuality, privacy, dignity, independence, and choice is always updated.
GENERAL;
* To complete the Domestic & Laundry roster monthly.
* To manage the Domestic & Laundry roster on a weekly basis with regards to absenteeism/sickness and arrange cover when needed.
* To approach all strangers in the building and in a friendly manner, ask them their business and offer your assistance.
* To utilise all the equipment in place to protect both the staff and residents from injury.
* Ensure the team carry out their duties to the required standards.
* Take responsibility for making all your team aware of and familiar with the correct use of all equipment and materials.
* To use all the recourses of the home in an economic manner, without waste or disregard for the cost.
* To participate in announced/unannounced visits from the management team and HSE Inspectors, environment health, fire authority and mental health commission if applicable.
* To participate in the induction of other staff as required and contribute to ongoing training programmes within the nursing home.
* Provide leadership and motivation which is conducive to good staff relations and work performance.
* To comply with any reasonable request from the Nurse Manager or her deputy in the best interest of the residents and the company.
This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the Domestic and the range of duties. Given the nature of the work involved, it must be stressed that maximum flexibility is required to work in the nursing home environment e.g., changes in duty/rotation of shifts, movement between departments etc. It does not attempt to detail every activity. The Deputy Person in Charge and/or Person in Charge will agree specific tasks and objectives with the post holder periodically and on a day-to-day basis.
