Graduate Roads and Streets Engineer - 2026 Graduate Programme (5561)
Arup Ireland is looking for eager graduates to join our Roads and Streets team. This full‑time role is based in Galway, County Galway, Ireland and offers a salary of €50,000‑€60,000.
The Opportunity
Your responsibilities will include delivering a range of urban and rural design projects such as road improvements, new roads, street design, Public Transport priority measures, Active Travel and Greenway projects. You will work within a multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with other teams, clients and contractors, and ensuring projects meet technical standards and deadlines.
As a Graduate Roads and Streets Engineer you will:
Prepare technical designs for projects, including geometrical alignment and drainage, drawings, reports, correspondence, and other outputs in accordance with approved design standards and procedures in line with the delivery programme.
Undertake research to inform updates to existing and the development of new national design standards and policy.
Ensure that relevant legislation, regulations, policies, strategies, and technical guidance is interpreted, followed and communicated across the team with guidance from senior members of staff.
Implement the appropriate QA procedures for all deliverables and ensure compliance with H&S requirements.
Communicate effectively and in a team environment with a broad cross‑section of individuals, including roads and streets team colleagues, project managers, other internal disciplines, clients and contractors.
Qualifications
Currently working towards a Level 8 degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, or a related Transport, Planning, or Environmental Management final year project/Master’s.
Strong digital skills and a keen interest in developing sustainable infrastructure solutions.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.
