Job Profile
The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will be part of Valeo R&D, working on developing next-generation vision systems for the automotive industry. The role involves managing all mechanical aspects of projects, ensuring robust designs delivered on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:
* Lead mechanical design projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including cameras, ECUs, and domain controllers.
* Represent R&D in project, customer, and supplier interactions.
* Coordinate across teams effectively and clearly.
* Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
* Support other departmental tasks as needed.
* Prioritize work at daily, weekly, and project levels for mechanical team members.
* Identify and escalate resource needs, including training, performance, and other project requirements.
* Lead technical activities such as product validation, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and design optimization.
* Manage project documentation within the PLM system.
* Support technical architecture and standards development.
Education/Training:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field.
Professional Experience:
* Minimum of 5+ years in Mechanical Design.
* Experience in high-volume manufacturing product development.
* Tooling and molding expertise, with ability to suggest improvements.
* Proficiency with engineering tools such as DOE and SPC.
* Strong problem-solving skills and systematic approaches.
* Experience creating 2D drawings and 3D CAD models.
* Motivated self-starter capable of working independently or in a team.
* Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
* Previous leadership or senior engineer experience, managing a professional team.
* Automotive industry experience, especially with vision products and electronics.
* Knowledge of tolerance analysis and stack-up analysis.
* Experience with detailed drawings, GD&T, and drawing control.
* Design experience for thermal solutions, both active and passive, is advantageous.
