36 Months, Fixed-Term, Whole-time Post Position Summary We are now looking for a Post Doctoral researcher to join our research team at the nasc Research Centre. This position provides an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and inclusive research team at University College Cork (UCC), working within the large-scale national Research Ireland (formerly Science Foundation Ireland) funded CONNECT Centre for Future Networks and hosted by UCC's nasc Research Centre within the School of Computer Science & Information Technology (CSIT). The Centre comprises approximately 50 people working on networks, security and systems research. CSIT is a large, research-focused school, participating in many major national and international research collaborations, and with extremely strong links to industry partners. The research will be carried out under the supervision of Dr Krishnendu Guha. Applicants are invited from those with a Ph.D. qualification and publications in a directly relevant area such as Security, Embedded Systems, Quantum Computing. The appointee will be expected to make significant contributions to the research agenda of the Q-FENCE project, working closely with the Principal Investigator Dr Guha and with academic and industry collaborators. We welcome applications from researchers with an established publication track record, appropriate to their career stage. This is a Horizon Europe project. This project is a transformative initiative aimed at securing tomorrow's digital infrastructure with quantum-resistant cryptography. In response to the rising threats posed by the evolving quantum computers, this project develops a robust hybrid framework integrating classical, quantum, and post-quantum cryptographic techniques. Utilizing innovative approaches such as Ring-LWE, Module-LWE, Quantum Random Number Generators, and hardware-accelerated primitives, the project establishes a dual-layer security model that fortifies data protection across diverse infrastructures. Leveraging hardware-accelerated primitives and energy-efficient protocols, this project ensures quantum resilience while addressing critical challenges such as seamless integration with legacy systems, regulatory compliance, and scalable deployment. The applicant is expected to have expertise in post quantum cryptography and know the fundamentals of quantum computing. It is also expected that the participant has knowledge to work on diverse software and hardware (knowledge on working with FPGAs and ASICs will be preferred). Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI's. This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher. Similarly, as the PD scheme is an intergenerational training scheme completion of PD1 or PD 2 levels in one HEI will normally render that researcher ineligible for appointment at a similar level in another Irish HEI Researcher Career Development Framework | Irish Universities Association Project Title: Q-FENCE (Securing Tomorrow's Digital Infrastructure with Quantum-Resistant Cryptography) Post Duration: 36 Months Salary: €46,306, - €52,863 p.a. IUA PD1 Scale For an information package including further details of the post see Informal enquiries can be made in confidence to Dr. Krishnendu Guha, School of Computer Science & IT. Email: Applications must be submitted online via the University College Cork vacancy portal Queries relating to the online application process should be referred to quoting the job-title and project name. Candidates should apply, in confidence, before 12 noon (Irish Local Time) on Friday 19th of September 2025. No late applications will be accepted.
