Role:
You will act as a main point of contact for Material Science selection and evaluation, harnessing your expertise for Identifying New Product Ideas.
You will have a good understanding of Polymers and Polymer coating chemistry.
The successful candidate will be capable of interfacing with peers and management and work to support the organization for the successful completion of specific objectives.
The ideal candidate will have a deep materials science background withhands-on experience with sourcing, optimising and developing materials for heat-sealing, casting, blowing, extrusion and injection moulding.
They should also have extensive experience of different technologies and material characteristics for effective bonding and high-speed automation of such materials.
Duties
Identifying material development opportunities and help lead technology development projects.
Technology development projects involve translating customer needs into technology requirements, that are then matched with viable solutions
Become a subject matter expert in Polymers and Polymer coatings from both a product design and process perspective
Researching new technologies and developing them into solutions that drive new product platforms
Provides technical support to New Product Development, Marketing, Engineering and Manufacturing
Managing project schedules, conducting product and project risk analysis and ensuring successful and timely completion of project activities
Input into financial reports and/or justifications for financial authorization and effectively communicate
Reviewing vendors product offerings to access suitability
Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in material and polymer science to drive innovation in our product pipeline.
Working with patent counsel to support patentability/infringement searches and preparation of patent application
Company: An established Multinational with Manufacturing and R&D facilities on-site in Ireland.
Manufacturing a range of disposable Medical Device Products used across the Healthcare Sector.
Experience:
Minimum of Degree (Hon) in Chemistry or Materials/Polymer Science.
A Masters or Ph D in Chemistry or Material/Polymer Science is a distinct advantage
4-10 Years commercial experience in a R&D role, Preferably Material Science, Preferably Medical Device Industry
Good knowledge of Polymer Materials including surface modifications and Coating Technologies
Experience of Design Controls / New Product Commercialization Projects
