Role Overview
Dar-us-Salaam is seeking a Motion Designer with strong video editing, animation, and storytelling skills to elevate our long-form and short-form video content. This role goes beyond basic motion graphics. It requires an understanding of pacing, transitions, timing, sound design, and visual storytelling within strategic, message-driven videos.
The Motion Designer will work hand in hand with our videographer and directly with the Director of Strategic Communications to create polished, emotionally resonant videos aligned with donor and community messaging.
Initial Project (Trial)
The first project for this role will likely be a Ramadan donor-centered video, intended to be played at a fundraising dinner. This video will:
Showcase the growth and impact of Dar-us-Salaam
Be strategically structured for a donor audience
Lean into Dar-us-Salaam's Ramadan theme of AI (Allah Inspired)
Combine video editing, motion design, animation, and sound timing
This project will serve as an opportunity to assess creative alignment, collaboration, and execution quality.
Ongoing Scope of Work
If the collaboration is successful, this role may expand to support:
Donor-focused campaign videos
Promotional and narrative videos for Dar-us-Salaam projects
Animated explainers, ads, and visual storytelling pieces
Strategic video content across events, fundraising, and outreach
Responsibilities
Edit and animate strategic, message-driven videos
Design and implement motion graphics, animations, and transitions
Enhance videos through timing, pacing, and sound design considerations
Collaborate closely with the videographer on visual execution
Translate strategic messaging into compelling visual storytelling
Incorporate feedback from the Director of Strategic Communications
Deliver high-quality, polished final video assets

Required Qualifications
Portfolio demonstrating advanced motion design and video animation work
Strong video editing skills combined with animation expertise
Proficiency in After Effects, Premiere Pro, or equivalent tools
Ability to integrate motion graphics seamlessly into edited video
Clear communication and reliability
Strong command of the English language, including clear writing, proper grammar, and the ability to communicate ideas effectively within an English-speaking professional context
Preferred Qualifications
Experience creating donor-focused or fundraising videos
Experience collaborating with videographers and creative directors
Familiarity with long-form narrative or event-based video content
Experience working with mission-driven or nonprofit organizations
