Operations Control Manager – Transport Operations
We're looking for an organised, proactive
Operations Control Manager
to join our busy transport operation. In this role, you'll be at the centre of daily activity- coordinating dispatch, supporting Transport Managers, engaging with drivers, and ensuring smooth, efficient operations throughout the day. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with strong operational awareness and a passion for keeping things moving.
Hours:
Monday–Friday, 6:00am–3:00/3:30pm
On-call:
1 in 3 weekends
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee day-to-day operational control and ensure timely vehicle dispatch.
* Work closely with Transport Managers to confirm previous day and night-shift jobs for accurate reporting and invoicing.
* Support customer service teams with recording and distributing problem jobs, ensuring correct rejection codes and timely follow-up.
* Communicate with customers regarding collection issues or service requests.
* Distribute driver and helper rosters daily and manage changes efficiently.
* Record vehicle defects and escalate issues as required.
* Manage PPE requirements for drivers and helpers.
* Build strong driver engagement and support positive communication across the team.
* Mentor a developing "Step-Up" colleague as part of ongoing team progression.
* Provide management cover during annual leave, requiring knowledge across all delivery streams.
Experience Required
* Experience in transport, logistics, or fleet operations.
* Strong coordination skills and ability to manage real-time operational issues.
* Comfortable working closely with drivers and customer service teams.
* Basic understanding of vehicle compliance and Health & Safety requirements.
* Familiar with rostering, job validation, and operational reporting.
* Experience supporting or supervising team members.
