(i) Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Care of Epilepsy (ID) or (ii) Clinical Nurse Specialist Candidate (cCNS) Care of Epilepsy (ID) Horizons is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist (Care of Epilepsy).
The post holder's practice is based on the five core concepts of the Clinical Nurse Specialist role as defined by the NCNM 4th edition (2008).
The role is based on the core concepts and associated competencies for the CNS:
Clinical Focus Service-user/Client Advocate Education and Training Audit and Research Consultant Eligible applicants will be those who, on the closing date,:
Are registered nurses/midwives on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by NMBI or are eligible for registration.
Are registered in the division(s) of the NMBI register relevant to the application or are entitled to be so registered.
Have at least 1 year's post-registration full-time experience or equivalent in the division of Intellectual Disability.
Have at least 1 year's experience in the specialist area of Epilepsy care or will be supported to attain this experience.
Have completed a post-registration program of study at QQI Level 9 or higher, relevant to specialist practice in Epilepsy, or will undertake such postgraduate education.
Can demonstrate CPD relevant to Epilepsy (ID) or will be supported to obtain it.
Have the ability to practice safely within their scope of practice.
Note: For nurses/midwives with Level 8 qualifications, recognition is valid until September 2026, with continued experience requirements.
Applicants must possess the requisite knowledge, clinical, leadership, managerial, and administrative capacity, and maintain annual registration with NMBI, including the Service User Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
Additional requirements include good health, character, a full clean driver's license, and access to a vehicle.
