Overview
We are seeking an experienced Safety & Environmental Specialist to join the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team. You will provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company standards, policies, procedures, and industry best practices related to EHS.
You will ensure that all health and safety regulatory requirements on the site are upheld to the highest standard, preferably with EHS experience in Biologics or Pharmaceutical industries, though experience from other scientific regulated industries will be considered.
Requirements
* Develop and implement EHS programs to ensure compliance with local legislation, standards, and industry best practices. Programs include risk assessments, contractor management, incident investigation, emergency response, chemical management, waste management, water & air management, ergonomics, bio risk, equipment & machine safety, industrial hygiene, and high-risk work.
* Assist operational departments in achieving and establishing compliance.
* Demonstrate leadership with a ‘safety first’ mindset, protecting employees, the community, and the environment.
* Prepare reports for site, divisional, and corporate management, as well as regulatory agencies.
* Evaluate EHS requirements for new projects, processes, and changes in existing processes.
Skills and Qualifications
* Technical bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety or science/engineering field; a post-grad EHS qualification is a plus.
* Ideally 3+ years of EHS experience in pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industries.
* Proven success in the environmental health and safety sector.
* Experience supporting multiple activities/projects and influencing across departments.
* Strong technical understanding of various EHS topics.
* Innovative, compliance-minded, and proactive in seeking necessary information.

* Team player with leadership capabilities and the ability to work within a multi-functional team environment.
