Job Summary
The Site Manager oversees the daily management of either a large construction site or multiple smaller sites, ensuring that Vision Contracting Ltd (VCL) processes and procedures are effectively implemented.
Key Activities
Develop detailed project schedules and work plans, allocating resources and assigning tasks to personnel and subcontractors.
Oversee daily site operations to ensure work progresses according to schedule and quality requirements.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of site staff and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
Enforce health and safety regulations, conduct regular site inspections, and address non-compliance issues.
Review and inspect work to ensure adherence to design specifications and resolve quality issues promptly.
Manage the procurement and efficient use of materials, equipment, and labour while tracking inventory levels.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and project stakeholders, providing regular progress updates.
Monitor project expenses to ensure they remain within the allocated budget and manage cost variations.
Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, implementing contingency plans as necessary.
Handle on-site issues, including design discrepancies, delays, and personnel challenges.
Maintain comprehensive site records, including daily reports, progress updates, and safety documentation.
Prepare and present project reports to senior management and stakeholders.
Supervise, motivate, and mentor site personnel, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Identify training needs and ensure continuous development of the site team.
Ensure all construction activities comply with local regulations, building codes, and legal requirements.
Handle legal or regulatory issues related to site operations as necessary.
Ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve project goals efficiently.
Skilled in planning, organising, and executing construction projects within scope, time, and budget.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with stakeholders, clients, and team members.
Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve on-site challenges effectively.

Education & Experience
Relevant third-level education or trade qualifications.
Ideally 5+ years' experience working in a similar role within the construction industry.
Proven experience managing construction sites from mobilisation through to project completion
Previous experience supervising direct labour and subcontractors across multiple trades
Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and experience implementing site safety systems
Experience in interpreting drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
Demonstrated ability to manage site resources effectively, including plant, labour, and materials
Previous involvement in quality assurance, inspections, and snagging
Experience chairing site meetings and liaising with project stakeholders (e.g. design teams, clients, subcontractors)
Familiarity with BCAR compliance and site documentation requirements
Knowledge of environmental and waste management practices on construction sites
Previous experience delivering projects in sectors such as commercial, industrial, healthcare, or residential construction
