Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Power Transmission and Distribution team in Ireland. The successful candidate will work on diverse industry-leading projects developing innovative power transmission grid systems, ensuring security of electricity supply, integrating renewable energy, and bringing large infrastructural plans from concept to delivery.
The role is permanent, reporting to the Power team Principal Engineer, and will involve:
Primary plant layout for HV substations
Specification of HV plant and ancillary equipment
Engineering design input across all lifecycle stages: feasibility, detailed design, construction monitoring, and commissioning
Coordination with client project teams and internal disciplines (civil, structural, environmental, survey/geotechnical, transport, protection and control, CAD/BIM)
Delivering projects in new technologies such as energy storage, HVDC systems, smart grid solutions, and waste-to-energy
Providing professional services to clients in the UK and overseas
Candidate Specification
Degree qualified; ideally a Chartered Engineer or working towards status
Experience in the power transmission and distribution industry
Experience in design, delivery, and supervision of HV substation solutions (110 kV to 400 kV)
Experience in developing specifications for HV AIS/GIS substations and associated primary/secondary equipment
Experience in all stages of project lifecycles
Experience applying regulatory and client health & safety requirements to HV plant system designs
Experience preparing technical reports in English
Preferred (but not required)
Design of overhead line systems for transmission networks
Design of HV cable systems (minimum 110 kV)
Site construction and/or testing/commissioning of HV plant systems
Experience with earthing software (CDEGs) and protection coordination software (ETAP)
Experience in control and protection systems design
Master’s degree
