Design Build Search is working with a world leader in road maintenance. Our client provides the development, sourcing, and application of a wide range of products and services for the industry. Due to successful growth in Ireland, they have an opening for a Contracts Manager in Galway. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the planning and delivery of site operations within their remit, ensuring works are completed as per relevant specifications.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related field
* Previous experience in the road and maintenance sector
* Analytical skills to identify and resolve technical challenges effectively
* Up to 3 years of prior leadership experience, preferably in a road surfacing or contracting environment
Responsibilities include:
1. Manage the human resources within your team, liaising with support functions such as HR and Safety
2. Program and schedule works to maximize resource efficiency and coordinate as Project Supervisor as defined by the Safety, Health, and Welfare Act
3. Ensure preparation of relevant Construction Stage Health and Safety Plans from preliminary plans provided by the client
4. Carry out regular inspections/audits on Temporary Traffic Management
5. Ensure communication by supervisors/foremen of site inductions, method statements, and safe systems of work for all visitors, employees, contractors, and suppliers
6. Liaise with Operations Managers, Supervisors, and Foremen to ensure proper record keeping for all project aspects, including: quantities of materials used daily, plant and equipment utilized, labor on site, weather records, safety audits, toolbox talks, task briefings, SSWPs, and variations to work requirements
7. Direct, manage, and lead contracting operations across the Republic of Ireland, prioritizing safety for clients’ employees and contractors, with a zero-tolerance policy for unsafe acts
8. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
9. Meet annual revenue and margin targets as agreed with the Head of Contracting
10. Grow market share in revenue, tonnage, and products; develop internal and external capabilities to deliver road maintenance services across Ireland, including people, plant, equipment, facilities, skills, and external partners
