Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support Commissioning, Qualification, and Verification (CQV) efforts for the installation and integration of heat pump equipment and boiler systems at a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing site.
This role involves close collaboration with engineering, CQV, quality assurance, and operations teams to deliver qualified utility systems supporting core operational areas such as production, fill-finish, packaging, warehousing, and ancillary spaces including laboratories, maintenance, and utility buildings.
CQV & Project Support
Lead and support CQV activities for heat pump and boiler systems
Review Design Qualification (DQ) documentation
Generate and execute commissioning protocols (FAT, SAT)
Verify mechanical installations (piping, pumps, exchangers, valves)
Conduct system walkdowns and resolve punch list items
Review and approve P&IDs, datasheets, isometrics, and turnover packages
Engineering Implementation
Contribute to mechanical system design and layout
Oversee vendor equipment delivery, installation, and field verification
Interface with building management systems (BMS/EMS) for control and monitoring
Support tie-in and integration planning with existing utility networks (steam, hot water, chilled water, etc.)
Documentation & Compliance
Generate and review engineering and CQV documentation per GMP standards
Prepare Mechanical Completion documentation
Conduct Utility Impact Assessments and risk evaluations
Ensure URS traceability and compile turnover packages for handover to Operations
Cross-functional Collaboration
Liaise with project teams, contractors, vendors, validation, and QA
Ensure mechanical systems meet cGMP and safety requirements
Participate in project and CQV meetings, tracking and resolving action items
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical systems implementation within pharmaceutical or biotech facilities
Proven experience in CQV for utility systems (boilers, heat pumps, HVAC, chilled/hot water)
Strong understanding of GMPs and Good Engineering Practices (GEP)
Familiarity with ASME B31.3, PED, and relevant mechanical/utilities standards
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skills
Desirable Skills
Experience with green or energy-efficient technologies (e.g., heat pumps)
Ability to read and redline P&IDs, isometrics, and mechanical schematics
Understanding of site utility systems and their impact on GMP manufacturing
**Rates will be decided based on the succesful candidates level of experience
