Future Learning offers innovative short-stay communicative English courses to young and young adult learners, between 12 and 24 years of age, from all over the world. These courses take place both in the peak summer season at our four centres in Ireland as well as mini-stay groups in Dublin and Athlone during the academic year and high school learners placed all around the county. The school is responsible for arranging courses, accommodation and transport as well as providing 24-hour support for welfare issues and a dedicated programme of social activities for these learners, who mainly book through language travel agents and may come as individuals or as part of a group.
To act as Centre Manager of a Technology Enhanced English Language summer centre for young and young adult learners of 12-24 years of age. To manage all aspects of the summer programme including learner welfare and behaviour, staffing, budget and running costs, relations with group leaders and agents. The arrivals are from the end of June with the peak period being July continuing into early August with reduced numbers.
A typical day would include briefing the staff in the morning, checking absences with DoS, dealing with queries from group leaders, updating transport lists, overseeing the activity and residential programme, as well as induction and development of staff as necessary.

6 weeks from June 23rd to August 1st (including online meetings, training, preparation, onsite setup, end-of-program feedback meeting)
Typical Hours: Monday-Friday 8.30am - 5pm (40 hours)
Rate: from €800 to €830 (including holiday pay) per week depending on qualifications and experience
Key responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
* Implement policies which promote learner collaboration through English and foster a positive learning atmosphere. Together with the Director of Studies support the use of our technology enhanced approach to delivering communicative, learner-driven programmes and assist staff in identifying and working to overcome barriers to effective learner collaboration and communication in all aspects of the programmes.
* Proactively assist activity leaders and accommodation staff in helping learners to identify issues and working to overcome barriers to effective communication and collaboration.
* Support the staff in using our technology enhanced approach to create a constructive and collaborative working atmosphere facilitating planning, delivering effective activities.
* Ensure the orderly running of the centre.
* Facilitate group leaders, inspectors and other visitors in observing classes and understanding what it is that we do.
* Provide culturally sensitive support for the learners and deal with any welfare issues that come to their attention.
* Maintain regular, consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures, in a way that sets an example for the centre staff.
* Deal with issues arising within the school regarding staff, learners and group leaders.
Requirements
* Experience running a center in a similar context
* Management experience (1 year)
* Proficient user of google suite

Preparatory:
* Oversee and assist with the planning and bookings of social and cultural activities (school, host family evenings, residential evenings)
* Assist Activities and Transport Coordinator in risk-assessing activities and plan accordingly
* Assist Activities and Transport Coordinator in developing learner timetables in advance of arrival
* Meet with the Young Learner Programme Manager, academic director, activity coordinator and residence manager for planning
* Oversee Pre-booking of coaches for arrivals and activities
* Organise welcome packs, office set up and general preparation of school.
Administrative:
* Respond to daily emails regarding bookings, learners etc.
* Use and update Future Learning's data management systems
* Ensure the centre's Google Site is updated daily with all relevant information
* Keep an account of all monies and process all FL summer payments eg. payroll, coaches, activities, excursions and host family payments
* Organise regular fire drills
* Generate accurate transport lists, optimising the use of buses etc
* Keep a record of all incidents and how they are dealt with
* Collate and compile feedback for internal quality assurance procedures.
* Ensure that the Residential Manager keeps track of meals that have been delivered and Future Learning has been invoiced accordingly
Staff:
* Organise and run induction of all non-academic staff in advance of the start of course and provide them with developmental feedback during it
* Allocate staff and roster them to cover all non-academic duties (considering costs, contracts, suitability and working-time rules)
* Providing direction and instruction for our residential manager and activities coordinator.
* Manage and instruct all aspects of the FL monitors roles
* Assist with the monitor recruitment process
Learners:
* Confirm student attendance with DoS and track down missing students keeping record absences.
* Oversee the organisation of evening activities and weekend excursions for host family learners
* and liaise with the residential manager for activities and excursions.
* Ensure safety and orderly queues at lunchtime
* Organise to get learners safely on and off coaches
* Deal with any learners who are disruptive in class or if they are ill
* Ensure learners go to class on time after all breaks and coordinating the supervision of breaks
* Take overall responsibility for safeguarding and child protection.
Relations:
* Establish and maintain clear lines of communication with all stakeholders.
* Handle general queries and questions that arise during the day from group leaders or learners
* Liaise closely with our YL Programme Manager
* Liaise closely with our Host Family Coordinator
* Liaise closely with our Residential Manager
* Liaise closely with the Transport and Activities Coordinator
* Coordinate with Group Leaders through regular briefings
* Maintain close contact with group leaders, working to ensure that they and their learners are content at all times
* Post a daily activity plan in the staff room for the group leaders and keep the academic manager informed of any changes in the programme
* Provide host families with a weekly schedule.
