Responsibilities
* Lead and oversee all phases of projects, from preliminary design review through to handover, ensuring alignment with contract requirements, budget, schedule, and quality standards.
* Serve as the primary point of contact to clients, local authorities, utility providers, designers, consultants, and sub-contractors.
* Coordinate utility works (water, drainage, electrical, telecoms) including diversion, connection, and reinstatement, and manage any associated statutory approvals or interfaces.
* Develop, review, and enforce project programmes and resource plans, adapting as needed to changes on site.
* Monitor project costs, issue variation notices, manage claims, and ensure commercial control and profitability.
* Oversee the preparation of health & safety plans, risk assessments (RAMS), method statements, and ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
* Lead site inspections, quality audits, and verification of works to specifications, including carrying out defect identification and ensuring corrective actions.
* Organise procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor packages; track deliveries and logistics.
* Mentor site staff, supervise teams, and maintain high morale, productivity, and adherence to company values.
* Prepare status reports, client updates, meeting minutes, KPI dashboards, and ensure documentation control throughout the project.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
* 7+ years of post-qualification experience, working on public works, urban road / streetscape / public realm projects, with experience managing utility coordination and diversion packages.
* Strong commercial acumen: managing budgets, pricing, variation control, claims.
* Deep understanding of Irish civil & utilities contract standards and specifications (TII, Irish Water, local authority, etc.).
* Proficiency with planning and construction tools: MS Project (or equivalent), Excel, and engineering software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar).
* Familiarity with setting-out / surveying tools (Total Station, GPS), and ability to interpret survey and CAD deliverables.
* Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
