Applications invited for the following Post in the Technological University Dublin Post: Post-Doctoral Researcher SPARK Project School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (Fixed term specified purpose wholetime basis for up to 5 years with funding for 2 years) Reference: 261/2025 Location: The post will be based at one of the TU Dublin Campuses i.e. Aungier Street, Bolton Street, Grangegorman, Blanchardstown or Tallaght. Regular attendance at other sites will be required. Hours of Work:A 37 hour working week is in operation. Salary: The successful candidate will be appointed at point (01) of the Post-Doctoral Researcher Salary Scale i.e. €48,896 gross per annum. Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. Incremental credit may apply in line with University policy. Closing Date: 5:00pm on 30th September 2025. Late applications will not be accepted. It is anticipated that interviews for this post will take place in week beginning November 2025. The interview assessment will be 55 minutes in length and will include a presentation of 5 minutes duration. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the appropriate mix of knowledge, experience, skills, talent and abilities required for the role as outlined below and must satisfy all of the essential criteria: Essential A PhD in Electrical Power or Energy related Area Demonstrated specialist knowledge in power systems operation and control, shown through experience applying advanced modelling and optimisation techniques. This may be evidenced by a strong research project portfolio, relevant industry experience, or other applicable contributions. A strong publication record that evidences a consistent commitment to research excellence, including, but not limited to, lead-author papers in high-quality journals relevant to the SPARK project's thematic area Good programming skills and knowledge of various Power Systems software Candidates will be shortlisted based on their demonstration of meeting every essential criterion so are asked to clearly outline how their experience and qualifications meet the criteria. Desirable Bachelors and Masters all first class ( 1.1 equivalent), detailed transcript to be provided Knowledge of AI techniques Data handling and visualisation Knowledge of Power Electronics and Control application Candidates may be shortlisted on the basis of none, one or more of these desirable criteria and are asked to clearly outline how their experience and qualifications meet the criteria. Other requirements for the role Personal attributes required for the role: Excellent Communication skill Ability to work in a group as well as alone Good analytical and strategic problem solving skills Experience of organising workshop/seminar and event management Further information for Post-doctoral Researcher In the case of a 1st Post-doctoral Fellowship where the applicant may not have graduated yet, the successful applicant must, at the time of appointment, provide a letter from the appropriate graduate studies office confirming that the student has completed the programme including all the examination requirements and is just awaiting the formal graduation ceremony and the likely date on which that will take place.
