R&DEngineer Full Time (12 Months) Galway, Ireland We have an exciting opportunity for an R&D engineer to join Cerefuze Medical.
The company is developing a transformative treatment in stroke care to treat Reperfusion Injury.
Reperfusion Injury is caused by the re-introduction of oxygen and blood into tissues of the brain that have been starved of oxygen, such as is the case with ischemic stroke.
Cerefuze innovation will be the worlds first novel, game changing device and therapy to assist patients suffering from reperfusion Injury.
Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide with over 100,000 cases in the UK alone, each year.
We are currently looking for a Research and Development Engineer to join our team.
This position will support the design of prototype device to ensure that it is ready for use in pre-clinical studies in conjunction with our partner institutes.
This role will report to the founding team of the company and will involve interfacing with key physicians in the medical community.
Key Responsibilities will include: Develop device and new material concepts within the project team.
Create, monitor and oversee procedures and practices in the R&D laboratory to ensure coating and material application processes meet quality requirements.
Develop, build and test models for prototype performance evaluations.
Build and test prototypes; analyse test data and interpret to identify optimal solutions to technical challenges.
Create detailed component and finished device assembly drawings/specifications using SolidWorks.
Identify and select product materials, assembly methods and define process settings.
Contribute to the project team to deliver key objectives, meeting performance, time and cost targets.
Leverage and liaise with external vendors / resources to achieve project goals.
Write procedures, protocols, specifications, and reports.
Other duties as assigned or required.
Lead project elements & activities (scope, schedule, communications, finance, risk, procurement and stakeholder management).
Foster strong collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience: Degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
Design experience with SolidWorks, prototyping, testing.
High level of technical writing and presentation skills.
Strong work ethic, creative problem solving, capable of working on own initiative Qualifications & Experience: MSc.
in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Automation, Biomedical Engineering or related field preferred Electronics knowledge and experience desired/ not essential Proficient in modern CAD software and medical device materials Excellent organizational and time management skill Hands-on experience with prototype design and development Behaviours & Skills required include: Excellent presentation and communication skills are essential.
Technically competent and confident, and able to engage peer to peer with both R&D engineers and physicians.
