We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to support manufacturing operations within a GMP regulated environment. This role focuses on ownership of critical automation systems, day-to-day operational support, troubleshooting, lifecycle management and continuous improvement across multiple automation platforms.
The position plays a key role in ensuring automation systems remain reliable, compliant and aligned with evolving operational and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as System Owner for designated automation systems, overseeing lifecycle management, configuration control and system reliability.
* Manage and support Change Controls, Deviations and CAPAs related to automation assets.
* Maintain accurate system documentation, including software versions, configurations and controlled records.
* Provide hands-on technical support to manufacturing, operations and engineering teams during routine production and planned activities.
* Lead or support automation related incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
* Support manufacturing during equipment upgrades, system changes and technology transfers.
* Deliver automation related improvements, including software changes, documentation updates and SOP enhancements.
* Review existing automation solutions and recommend upgrades aligned with current best practice and regulatory expectations.
* Support digitalisation and Industry 4.0 initiatives such as data integration and system connectivity.
* Support automation scope for system upgrades and improvements through engineering assessments and implementation activities.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering and external vendors.
* Participate in engineering runs and system handovers as required.
* Promote strong EHS and GMP standards across all automation activities.
* Ensure all work is executed in line with site procedures, quality systems and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
* 5+ years' experience supporting automation systems within a regulated manufacturing or operations environment.
* Strong background in automation system design, testing, troubleshooting and lifecycle management.
* Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.
* Strong hands-on experience with Siemens PLCs + Intouch Scada.
* Proven experience supporting production-critical automation systems in a GMP environment.
