Job Description
Job Title: Care Assistant/Domestic Assistant
(including some occasional Annual Leave Night-time Cover)
Accountable to: Sisters of Mercy
Reporting to: Line Manager
Salary: €15.45 per hour
Length of Contract: 1 year Fixed Term Contract with the possibility of
renewal.
(From the commencement of employment, an employee is required to serve a minimum of a 6 month probationary period)
Type of Contract: Full time
Hours: 32 hours per week.
Summary of Role: Care and wellbeing of the Sisters.
Main Duties and responsibilities.
Care
* To implement the care plans for the Sisters.
· To assist the Sisters in all aspects of personal care.
· To accompany Sisters needing assistance with mobility.
· To prepare and serve snacks and meals as required by the sisters.
· To clean and tidy Sisters bedrooms as and when required.
· To organise stimulating activities for the Sisters.
· To liaise with laundry staff with regard to Sisters' laundry.
· To accompany Sisters to appointments if required.
· To be available to assist Agency Carers when required
· To provide overnight cover for Annual Leave/Sick Leave
Policies
· To adhere to the Sisters of Mercy, Northern Branch, Policy regarding Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Children.
· To deliver all care in a manner that ensures Health and Safety is adhered to.
Report Writing
· To read daily log of care before commencement of each shift.
· To complete a daily log of care at the end of each shift.
· To write up any other communication that may assist or inform other team members in carrying out their duties.
· To complete Incident/Accident report forms appropriately and as needed.

Confidentiality
· To ensure all personal information is kept strictly confidential both within the Convent and outside of the Convent excluding situations where an individual is deemed to be at risk.
· If a Sister is in an at risk situation, staff are required to follow the correct reporting procedure as outlined by the Sisters of Mercy.
· To sign a confidentiality clause.
Training
· To participate and attend at all training as requested by the Sisters of Mercy
· To read and comply with the Health and Safety Statement of the Sisters of Mercy, Northern Branch.
· To read and comply with all policies and procedures set out by the Sisters of Mercy.
The duties/responsibilities of this post may vary from time to time according to the needs of the house. The Job description may be reviewed at the reasonable discretion of the Sisters of Mercy in light of those changing requirements and in consultation with the post holder.
