Background
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Site Engineer to join their team, taking responsibility for HSQE compliance, site management, and planning on challenging infrastructure projects. You will ensure works are delivered safely, to specification, on time, and within budget, while supporting both project delivery and company standards.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you'll oversee day-to-day site operations, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards, and assist with project planning and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Implement company Safety Statement and HSQE management systems.
* Ensure compliance with statutory HSE requirements.
* Prepare method statements, risk assessments, toolbox talks.
* Report unsafe situations and promote a safe working culture.
* Assume temporary H&S lead role in Project Manager's absence.
* Ensure quality control per company procedures, method statements, and inspection/test plans.
* Liaise with internal teams (planning, design, commercial, HSQE) and external bodies (Local Authorities, Utilities, Statutory Authorities).
* Interpret specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
* Carry out setting out, levelling, and surveying.
* Prepare labour, plant, and material returns; as-built drawings; technical reports; and site diary.
* Manage requisitions for materials and plant.
* Supervise site labour force and subcontractors.
* Resolve technical issues with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.
* Work with foremen to plan and review upcoming works.
* Conduct post-construction analysis to support future projects.
* Assist with project budgets.
* Understand contract forms and implications of variations or delays.
* Coordinate with Project Manager/planner to meet programme deadlines.
What they are looking for
* Degree in Engineering (civil, mechanical, or related).
* 4–5 years' experience in a similar role.
* Experience in water/wastewater projects preferred.
* Strong track record on similar projects with commitment to safety and environmental best practice.
