Role Overview
The role of a Legal Costs Accountant is pivotal in the litigation process, particularly within the medical claims arena. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analysing and scrutinising incoming bills of costs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Analyse and scrutinise incoming bills of costs, including liability for payment
* Represent the organisation on the Taxation or other appropriate forum or by way of negotiation of costs and/or the presentation of oral or written submissions
* Liaise with external panel solicitors and legal advisers and relevant Government Agencies taking instructions for the purpose of opposing bills of costs and dealing with all aspects of legal costs related queries
* Management of a caseload comprising a variety of legal costs claims
* Provide reports and statistical data as required
* Support the Head of Legal Costs and in-house Solicitors and Claims Management teams
Requirements:
* Knowledge of legal costs jurisprudence and the rules of court pertaining to adjudication of legal costs
* Experience of negotiating and/or adjudicating incoming solicitors' bills of costs
* Experience as a Legal Costs Accountant, Costs Lawyer or as a Litigation Professional with exposure to the management of legal costs claims
