Job Description:
As a highly skilled and experienced biochemist, you will play a key role in providing expert clinical and scientific advice to clinicians on the appropriateness and choice of biochemical investigations. You will be responsible for delivering a safe, high-quality, and comprehensive service to Clinical Biochemistry, meeting the needs of our services users while maximizing the use of resources.
Key Responsibilities:
* To take responsibility for the delivery of a safe, high-quality, and comprehensive service to Clinical Biochemistry.
* Provide clinical and scientific advice to clinicians on the appropriateness and choice of biochemical investigations.
* Be an active member of the Chemical Pathology Management team.
* Monitor and ensure the quality of analyses and service provided by the department.
* Ensure all Scientists are committed to departmental Accreditation, Audit, and Quality Assurance.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Comply with and contribute to the revision, training, and implementation of departmental and professional policies and procedures.
* Maintain knowledge of technological and technical advances in methods of Chemical Pathology practice and procedures.
* Optimize the method and range of biochemical investigation provided.
* Work in co-operation with other professional groups to achieve the optimal clinical biochemistry service.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
You must possess a BSc (Hons)/BA (Mod) in a subject area related to clinical biochemistry/laboratory medicine and diagnostics, or an equivalent qualification. Additionally, you should have a PhD in a subject relevant to clinical biochemistry/clinical diagnostics/laboratory medicine or Part I FRCPath (UK), or an equivalent qualification. You must also have 5 years of full-time relevant experience in clinical biochemistry/related discipline, including 2 years of full-time senior clinical biochemist experience.
